Sweet Heat Vinaigrette: A Fire Cider & Elderberry Syrup Love Story
We mean it when we say we haven't used another salad dressing in our house since 2020. Just check the photo: that's our old branding, with (you guessed it) some sweet heat vinaigrette in the making!
This fire cider salad dressing recipe is an OG for a reason, and we promise once you try it, it'll be the reason you stock our Elderberry Syrup and Fire Cider all year round.
Sweet Heat Vinaigrette Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp Elderberry Syrup
- 1 tbsp Fire Cider
- 1 tsp Dijon Mustard
- 1 clove Garlic
- 4 tbsp Olive Oil
- Salt + Pepper
Directions
Combine all ingredients preferably with an immersion blender, or whisk if that's all you have. We make a big bottle (about 4x this recipe, which is good for a week or so) so it's ready for drizzling on a salad daily. But it's just as wonderful on cooked greens, grilled protein, and more... get creative!
Why It Works
The elderberry syrup brings the sweet, the fire cider brings the tang and the heat, and the Dijon and olive oil pull it all together. Sweet, sour, and spicy in about two minutes. We promise, it's crazy simple and crazy enough that the whole family will love it! Our toddler has been eating salads since he first grew teeth, thanks to this stuff.
More Ways to Use It
- Hearty salads. Greens, shaved Brussels sprouts, or apples and nuts.
- Cooked greens. Toss with warm kale or collards.
- Grilled protein. Chicken, salmon, or steak.
- Roasted veggies. Beets, squash, and carrots love it.
- Grain bowls. Use it as the finishing sauce.
Making it for Thanksgiving? It's a bright, tangy counterpoint to all the rich dishes on the table.
